They’ve negated our Staffs super power which is film study…

Neil Brown brought in something like 72(!) new players… Some of them are bound to be halfway decent…

I’m guessing that we see something close to, or better than, a mid-level MAC team effort from these guys, add in the “we’re playing the defending national champs, let’s show the world who We are” twist and we might get much more of a game from these guys than most expect…

Historically, we’ve started relatively slowly in our early games, so this one may have a few unpleasant surprises for us based on the past.

here’s a YouTube preview:

Cig says he's going back to Brown's time at WVU and then last year at Texas to study film.

@thehoosierhuddle

This set up is a coaches dream (from the North Texas perspective).

I’m guessing that while they’ll utilize principles and a few plays that have worked well in the past, they’ve most likely built an entire game plan based on what they think their new guys can execute versus what they see as our vulnerabilities…

I think we’ll win and probably win big but it also wouldn’t surprise me if they gave us more of a game than we all expect…

Always a crap shoot - especially in this new world of CFB where rosters change like crazy. I will say though that Vegas has big buildings for a reason, and they have IU as an overwhelming favorite (40 ish points).

Spreads get way more accurate as the season goes along, but it's the widest Week 1 margin for Cig so far at IU.

@76-1 I wrote my North Texas preview in late May/ Early June. I’m doing an updated one tonight.

I think you see them run Neal Brown’s offense and run the ball a lot. They have three really solid backs. They may let Tayven throw it, but Cig knows what he can do.

Defensively, I believe they lost two starting corners for the year. They may not cover 40.5 points, but I don’t think they’ll be caught off guard.

@76-1 you can share whatever you’d like, but their stuff isn’t nearly as good as ours.

I remember driving up from Houston back in 2011 when IU played North Texas in Denton. Lost by 3, but they effectively kicked our ass, and I was drinking with bad intent back at the car afterwards. My buddy, whose son was a student at UNT at the time, was laughing his ass off.

Yeah, I remember it well. I need IU to bitch-slap these little bitches - LOL !!

Indiana playing at North Texas is just another example of our old administration not giving a shit about football.

I looked up the boxscore. I remember playing them, not much else.

Cody Latimore caught a TD pass. We had 400 yards in the game. They had 427 yards, 280 of it by one guy. Lance Dunbar 127 on the ground, 152 receiving.

We averaged under 2 yards per rush. 50 on 27 carries. They had 226 yards on 48 carries. Down 24-0 , we cut it to 24-21 with a 4th quarter rally. Pick 6 then 2 TDs.

We showed up ready to play in that one! We must have ridden Greyhound down from Bloomington.

Ahh, the good old days.

That loss got me out of going to a wedding in the pouring rain. It was nearly impossible to find on TV too.

IU used to play these stupid G6 road games all of the time too. At Central and Western Michigan, Ball State, BGSU, FIU, UConn, UMass, WKU. Just dumb 2-1 series.

Realistically, those teams were on our level. 🙄

Gee, I wonder if Cig will have the boys ready to play against North Texas? 😀

It's almost here!

Their transfers will have way fewer playmakers than our transfers will showcase.  I don't expect much of a game particularly if we stifle Jackson and the 1 very speedy RB.  Vegas may get the # wrong but they'll be in close proximity.  QB#2&3 and much other team depth will get some time Saturday.

@hoosier-clarion Yep, we may not be as sharp as we'd like, but I don't see this as a recipe for NTU to spring a surprise or keep it close. Usually with these G6/smaller school teams, it takes a coach implementing his system and players, before they're ready to take on and compete with a P4 team. I don't think a new staff and entirely new roster will add up to them being ready to compete with a good P4 team. ODU for instance had an established coach and QB last year; ironically the QB that replace Grant Wilson as their starter I believe.
