@openwheel I don’t know.  Cal fans were trashing Fernando.  And I get why they weren’t happy.  Turned out fine though.

Our retention has been very good.  Hopefully it continues.  I suspect Charlie is pretty pleased with his development and role this year…

Yeah, very true on Fernando. 'Bailing on his teammates' and all sorts of catcalls toward him. He turned out to fit in as a character guy.

I hope Charlie is happy. But now everybody knows he's a stud... Agent probably gets calls (nobody would tamper, I know...) and has to sort thru real numbers from the BS.

For sure.  I’m sure 20 programs checked on Charlie.  Can’t hurt to ask and CFB is ruthless.

@iureactionary Isn't he Manning's roommate?  Strange, to me, that the Texas staff wouldn't prioritize a guy like that, assuming they're close.

Maybe it's sour grapes but Texas forums sure were annoyed with Livingstone portaling. Said he put out a tweet 'beyond his control' (? I dont know, jsut reading their forums) and they said the beyond control is he was offered a substantial mid 6 figure deal and his agent thinks it should be more, as in closer to 7 figures... And their forums say he would just be 'in the mix' and Texas wouldn't pay that unless he was 'the guy'.

I know Cig and staff will determine character, fit, money. But, still, I don't like the sound of that...

I'm actually more worried we keep current important guys such as Becker very happy with their deals. Culture can go south if newcomers get more bling than the soldiers.

they're recruiting over him is his issue. he had a really good year and they were like, "we don't know if you're worth it, we're going to bring in other guys". that's what's "beyond his control".

my brother is an iu grad who's lived in austin for a decade and goes to texas games all the time. he was shocked about livingstone and deandre moore leaving given their production but they're big game hunting and those guys apparently felt like they weren't priorities...and they clearly aren't. it makes sense to see what else is out there.

edit: count me as a guy who would LOVE to add livingstone and i have no doubts about his character. no chance he's brought in if that was in question...maybe with other staffs, but not this one.

Is Livingstone going to have an easier time with our depth at WR compared to texas?   Have to imagine there's more to it than just being recruited over.  Cig has no problem recruiting over everyone.

I don’t think Becker is getting recruited over. It’s not like the QB position where you have 1 dude. If cooper comes back Becker is likely our 3rd best receiver at worst. If Cooper doesn’t come back I don’t see anyone other than Marsh getting more money than Becker, but they should be fairly comparable. Becker will almost certainly be a starter next year. I don’t see Livingstone beating out Becker, but he is very good and I believe will be a depth piece behind Becker. Morris will be a depth piece behind Cooper if he comes back, or a starter in the slot if Cooper leaves for the NFL. Marsh fills in for Sarratt and Becker will be a full time starter in EJ’s spot. I just hope Bond and Chandler both stick it out. Our depth at WR will be amazing next year if we get Livingstone. Even without him I’m very comfortable with our WR room. Especially if we get Cooper back.

@olympian97 IU loses Sarratt, Brady, Williams from that room at minimum and maybe Cooper. Becker is not getting recruited over. They love him. That was proven when he played 13 games on special teams as a true freshman.

I know this is probably somewhere but do we have a list of those who were on campus but didn’t commit yet?

I'd be shocked if Becker wasn't a starter next year no matter who we bring in.

i think he's attempting to decide if he goes to oklahoma, where he'd probably be THE guy (or a top guy) right away or whether he wants to go to iu with the cloudy situation around omar cooper + nick marsh + tyler morris + charlie becker + lebron bond + davion chandler all vying for touches.

again, i don't know the situation that well, just what my brother has read on the 247 texas site but like, i think the disrespect from texas (and this is just me summarizing) comes more from the the fact that he put up good numbers as a redshirt freshman and they were like "thanks, we're still recruiting starters".

edit: i had thought they locked him up but clearly the cooper situation and the marsh committment may have changed that for him

I can't find the list, but I think there was the safety from Toledo who we aren't expected to get, the tight end from Miami, and I thought there was supposed to be a DT from Penn State stopping in, too. Sounds like almost everyone who actually visited already committed to us.

that's what my brother said but no idea if it's true...again, just a bizarre situation given how well he performed. i believe wingo and mosely are back but they're losing moore and livingstone who were their #2 and #3 leading receivers...i guess they don't think he's a guy to pony up for?

Sounds like Sorsby is getting around 5 mil.  Unbelievable.  I haven't really paid any attention to him after he left IU... but could he have gotten THAT much better?

There's no way this trend is sustainable.  I'm sure this is a Mr Obvious statement...but unless some sane rules are put in place, NCAA bball and football are gonna crash and burn, sooner rather than later.

@iunorth What is the return for any donor?  Access to the pregame lounge?  I just wonder, how many years in a row will said millionaire donate 100k, $1m, etc etc when there is no financial value in it for them.  Just good vibes.

So Sam Levitt is in a world of hurt. Rumors is that he really hurt his foot playing basketball at the LDS center and kept it from ASU. When Dilly found out , he kicked him off and wasn’t really shut down.
