I hope these transfers aren’t all about the money because if they want to develop and win there is only one program for them. Notre Dame is not a more appealing option from a pure football perspective.

Notre Dame is still Notre Dame.  Lets not act like they don't matter.

From a pure football perspective, they are a very appealing suitor.  They have history, they play on national television every week and with the rules change next year, will be an almost auto lock for the playoffs.

They are a real threat on the trail.

Absolutely get your direction.  But ND has lost a fair chunk of totally dedicated following through tenure of that jerk Kelly.  That initiated from the reckless decision using the aerial lift during practice in weather that would have been shut down by anybody with average consideration for the situation developing but the HC couldn't be bothered.  Then Kelly's cold, stoic posture to who was responsible was reprehensible leadership.  Also a big loss to their fandom size used to wear IU on the other side of their football season jackets.  I know 4 of those fellas myself.  Just thoughts from my view.  Really like your current/timely updates on portal recruiting. Fine work.

@boogie Notre Dame missed the playoffs despite playing an easy schedule and threw a tantrum when they didn’t get in. I can’t respect a program like that. Freeman is not a better coach than Cignetti.

@hoosier-clarion I think Kelly is a distant thought for them. I would never trade Cig, but I have the utmost respect for Marcus Freeman and there’s a reason he was heavily pursued by both college and nfl teams in the offseason. If the A&M and Miami games were at the end of the season rather than the beginning we’d probably see ND in the CFP. With that said I really do hope we pull it off with Marsh. He’s a dawg.

He's visiting this weekend.

Unless something changes, Cig and Co want him.

Sounds great. Thx. He does have some good numbers and also has remaining years after next.

Pick the Hoosiers!

I think he's the most likely receiver on our board that pops for us.

Marsh would be the dream, but there's legit comp there.  I'm also not sure on his asking price... to high and Cig will pass and go get someone else.

He's a weapon, for sure..

Also is the support for his younger siblings as they lost their parents..

Maybe a distant thought now but ND lost much faithful following before the jerk left town.  Their luster is nothing like Ara through Holtz.  Even the NC (game) year of Kelly was less heralded than previous decades.  Freeman has gained some new interest but old line boys are gone.  As I stated I know 4 reversible jacket boys who set fire to them.  Just as it happened to IU after RMK.

I’m guessing Oregon is going through the same issue. It makes perfect sense why Cignetti wanted the transfer portal window to stay where it was in December.

He did not specify the players. @iugradman, yes Lanning said basically the same thing about that issue.

@iugradman Oregon's coordinators are also trying to build up the teams they are taking over (Cal and Kentucky)

Being pretty invested in Cal, I've been told Lupoi was flown to Berkeley via private jet so he could be on campus yesterday and today to meet with potential recruits before flying back to Eugene.

I can't begin to imagine the insane demand on coaching staff time with the portal open right after the quarter final games as they are recruiting AND game prepping. - much less for guys like Lupoi and Stein who have to recruit to their new schools while game planning for their current school's upcoming games
