News: The NCAA will penalize programs that sign/add a transfer or allow a transfer to participate in athletically related activities without the athlete being entered into the transfer portal.
Penalties include a head coach suspension (50% of a season) + a fine of 20% of that sport's budget.
These are heavy penalties, and they come with spring football practices underway across the country. It’s the first year without a spring portal window for football.
I don’t think there are red flags here for IU. Talking with people today it seems like either the kid was home sick, didn’t mesh with the staff or saw that the road to PT wasn’t as short as he’d hoped.
