Boy have things changed. Cig is awesome and ironically IU is better than Bama in the current state.
Bama fans will be on Kalen's backside if he doesn't win SEC and/or make CFP.

Bama got crushed by Georgia in the SEC championship game last season and had to sweat out their CFP selection. After they beat Oklahoma and enjoyed brief vindication, we preceded to pummel them with their worst bowl loss in program history. Watching the Bama fans quietly leaving the game early was a thing of beauty.

I was also really mad when they poached our strength and conditioning coaches, but I also felt weirdly good about it. That we performed to the standard (at the time) that Alabama wanted. I kind of felt proud, on top of my anger of course. Little did I know that none of this would matter in a short time and that WE'D be the ones poaching coaches now. Just crazy overall

Yes, and he had a phenomenal record at Sioux Falls in the aughts.
I'm probably not giving him enough credit but it's hard for me to get past the antipathy I have for the SEC and their high-profile shills like Finebaum. Also, the fact that Saban was so reluctant almost all of last season to give much of a nod to Cignetti, his former assistant, until he basically had to, burned my ass. And all of the SEC BS about how Bama was going to beat us because they were finally healthy, and because they have tradition and we don't. What a joke that turned out to be.
But back to DeBoer. He took an enormous gamble on Penix at Washington, and it paid off. Good for him. If Penix's seasons with the Huskies had ended like they did with the Hoosiers, there's little chance DeBoer would be coaching at Alabama but, again, good for him. He earned it.
I am more concerned about losing our strength coach to Tennessee.
I wasn't so high on the staff that went to Alabama. I don't know why. Didn't they want slimmer, agile guys and our line was pushed around? Or was it only due to Darren Hiller sucking... Seemed like Derek Owings built much more toughness.
Tyson Brown has a big act to follow. I like what I hear though, good resume. Spring game was promising.
On DeBoer, he's good, wish we'd have gotten him. Well, pre-Cig I wished that. DeBoer will get Alabama improved, back to top levels. If they have the cash and I think they will have enough.
