My earliest live IU sports memory is standing on a seat in the Hall, 1975 with my Grandma and watching Benson with the tip to get us into OT against UM.
I've been going to IU games for 50 years. We travel to at least one away football game every year and no idea how many home basketball games.
My son got an opportunity to buy two tickets from a long time donor at face value (great dude), so I'm paying for the trip. Everything is booked and we got the tickets today. I looked up the tickets and they are listed at 9k/ticket.
Be cool and sometimes things work out.
GO HOOSIERS!

1976. I was there, too, and still remember the front page of the Star the next day.
Besides politician, is there a scummier profession or side hustle than ticket scalper?
I took great joy back in the day taking a short cab ride over to Wrigley for a weekday night game and getting one of those bastards to sell me tickets at $5 a pop in the second inning.
Lots of price-gouging going on, even among some Hoosiers who are going to the game but have extra tickets and are looking to cash in.
The get-in price was $3500 two days ago. This morning it's down to $2900. It will go lower still. The question is, how much lower?
If you're a bit of a gambler, wait until Sunday - - or even Monday. I know that's tough for air travel, but if you're already in the area or within a manageable drive away, that's the way to go. I think there's a good chance the get-in price will ultimately drop to under $2k.
Friends,
I am bitter about the fact that I have been an ardent and informed IUFB fan for almost 20 years, and yet I am aware of so many new and casual fans getting the hookup on tickets. This is compounded because I couldn't go to BIG10 Championship game or Peach Bowl and I didn't nut up to go to the Rose Bowl.
It's petty, I know. Someone please comfort me.
There is no greater fan that me.
my first game was 64
between me and my dad, season tickets since the 70’s, 3 degrees, Varsity Club non-minimums/non-maximums. Been to games at Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Northwestern, Ahia State, Oregon, Penn State.
Refuse to/can’t pay/won’t pay tourney prices X 5 to take my family … but I absolutely love watching these tourney games with family and friends at home. No regrets at all. Pop open a Pabst and enjoy.

Our season tickets go back even farther into the mid-60s, but the ticket pricing has made me somewhat ambivalent. I’m going because I was able to make it work and the sheer shock of it all is something I guess I couldn’t let go. Too many freezing cold games with lopsided scores, too much hopelessness that we’d ever be good, or even competitive, too many instances where the alumni / fan base willingly accepted being bad. And then this.
But the ticket costs are obscene, and it will take a little of the fun out of it. Having been to Philly twice, New Orleans once, and numerous other tournament sites, I never remember even an iota of angst over the price of tickets. But there definitely is some here.
Enjoy your view from the couch. With all of the money you’re not spending, you can upgrade from PBR, though.
Go Hoosiers.
@bigmike Saw my first IU game at age 8 in 1969 at UK with my dad as guests of a UK donor. Dad was a correspondent banker and his territory included Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky and he had relationships with lots of bigtime donors/borrowers. I wouldn't trade my life in, but had I followed his footsteps I'd probably be at the game Monday.
Disappointing to hear people are taking advantage of this situation. I went to my first IU football game in 1966. Season ticket holder in the 80’s and 90’s then moved away for 20 years. Picked them back up 12 years ago after I retired and moved back to Bloomington. I am going and taking 2 family members. Never even thought about selling the other 2 tickets, but if I had I would make sure an IU fan got them at face value.

The closer it gets, the less I care. LFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
@keanu-reeves I feel you. I dont buy season tickets because I can usually only make 1-2 games a year in person as someone who lives out of state. Had an intern this summer (from IU) and was telling me all about how football was the hottest thing on campus. As someone who never really cared for the sport of basketball (as a spectator, I like playing), it always felt like a dagger. Its like I seriously sat through all of that crap???
But Im happy for all of them. I hope they continue to show to games, I hope they actually show up in the non conference schedule like a true powerhouse program, and its time to bring the HOOSIER brand back to the forefront.
Ive been getting a lot of crap from people who are like "you seriously arent going to the natty game" and its like well I spent north of $7,000 on the CCG game, the natty would cost me at least $6k if I went solo... and that would be for a nosebleed. Its just hard to justify.

35 year season ticket holder, and I got four tickets at face value through IU. I’m not ashamed to admit that I sold two of the tickets to a ticket broker in Indianapolis and my profit off of that is allowing me to use the other two tickets and attend the game. Otherwise, there’s no chance I could afford this experience. So I’m not ashamed of it
@zeke4ahs I was looking at stub hub like 1500 bucks for a nose bleed seat as of today.
And people said they couldnt find a ticket.
