Probably the biggest thing is no one is going to ride the bench at OSU or other big time program when they could be making money elsewhere.
If you have a coach or staff that is good at evaluating talent, then you can take advantage.
@walt542 I figured the big boy schools post nil are at a disadvantage. The bigger/richer schools have more cash than cachet. Like Alabama has cachet but are struggling with nil from multiple reports. I think schools like IU have had to be more inventive and got ahead of the curve. IU certainly didn’t waste the opportunity.
Finally getting Cuban on board doesn't hurt either.

Immediate eligibility after a transfer has helped out a whole lot as well.
Well, Freeze didn't win out and Auburn isn't sticking with him.
Top 5 jobs in the country, when you consider NIL, IMO would be OSU, Texas, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida/Michigan.
I don't think Kiffin goes anywhere but Alabama. Dillingham doesn't leave ASU (yet).
Kelly to Penn St. He has midwest ties.
Sumrall to LSU
Key to UF
Will Stein to Auburn
After that it's anybody's guess. Maybe Clark Lea to one of the lower tier openings.

NOT a top 5 job. Possibly not even a top 5 job in their own conference. Forget possibly, DEFINITELY not.
Wisconsin announced that Luke Fickell will remain head coach in 2026, and they are going to give him more money to work with
Badger fans, I hope you enjoyed the past quarter century. You are now in contention with Purdue for worst team in the B1G. Hope they have fond memories of their bowl games.
Wisconsin is NOT making a coaching change this year as they announced Fickell will return in 2026 with more financial support.

I have a feeling Pat Fitzgerald will get a gig now that his court stuff is done. He might have to climb the coaching ladder, so I doubt he gets one of the premium jobs. A place like Michigan State would be a nice landing spot.
Given what’s happened there, MSU may have tough time hiring someone with baggage. Then again maybe not…
The Wisconsin AD should have just been honest and said, "We want to can this ass hole, but we're about the 10th-best job out there. Who are we going to get?"
@tammany No one's paying attention to Michigan State football, so the bad press--if there is any given his exoneration--would be minimal.
It would be a good hire. Hell, I think he'd work at PSU.

I could see him at Arkansas.
Podcasts I listen to say LSU has EXTREMELY deep pockets so NIL money will never be an issue. I agree it's a top 3 program.
LSU and OSU are head and shoulders the 2 best jobs in the country. They have all the resources that jobs like Texas, Michigan, etc... have... basically without any real competition in their state. Both Louisiana and Ohio are loaded with high end talent, and those schools have their states locked down, more than any other state school programs do. They're both flagship Nike schools, which does still matter. They're both flagship programs in the 2 best conferences.
Speaking of, I wish IU would redo our contract with Adidas, which was done pre-Cig.
Things have changed at IU since that contract. IUFB's exposure in terms of TV ratings and pregame shows and CFB media discussion is like 4-5x what it was. A new approach would be good for IU and Adidas.
