Dumb. You never pass on the opportunity to get a raise lol
Penn State is waiting on the Steelers to fire Tomlin.
@gthomas Tomlin already bluntly said he has no interest in coaching college football. His quote was “never say never, but never”.
JMU hired Billy Napier to replace Chesney. That was really surprising.
WOW! Both our coordinators may be spared. Good for the Hoosiers.
The B1G is in an interesting little era -- the PSU and UM are down era. Both schools will eventually fix it, but how long it will take is hard to know. PSU obviously has a long way to go. I'm not sure UM will be much more than a fringe top-10 team at best with Sherrone and Underwood -- they may need a coaching change to be elite again.
That's two huge programs that are down. This has left this big void in the conference's top 4 spots that usually go to the playoffs.
We've popped into one of those spots and we'll have to prove we can stay there (so far so good...). Who else will get in the mix next year? It's not clear. USC maybe, they're spending a lot of players. UM if they fix their offense (huge if). I'm not sure any other B1G programs really stick out now. Things are quite wide open.
I bet Chesney can get UCLA turned around and bet they have the funds and name recognition to do so.
Their NIL is actually quite low, as is alumni / fan interest in the program. They’ve recently announced an end-of-decade move from the Rose Bowl to Sofi stadium in hopes that a closer to campus venue will benefit home attendance, which has been poor for some time. It’s an uphill battle for them anyway, with USC dominating the local college scene, and the lack of an on campus facility has made it worse.
On the plus side, they have a huge recruiting landscape on which to draw, but more and more kids are leaving SoCal for other schools, so it’s less of an advantage than it used to be. Academically, they’re top notch, but school seems to be an afterthought for everyone connected to college sports.
Would be great if Chesney could get them back to a level of respectability.
Looks like Matt Campbell is next up for PSU consideration. Will they be able to get him?

@red-hornet: my son recently graduated from West Virginia, so I followed Neal Brown throughout my son’s time there. We suddenly have very little to worry about with that matchup 😂
Holy moly. Pat Kraft going off the rails.
This is an insane listen and very entertaining.
Wow! He is basically saying IU sucks and they should have beat us. He still sees IU as the old Indiana and doesn’t respect us as a contender since he still gives credit to the Oregon game. Imagine a new coach coming in and losing to IU again. That coach will be fired in year 1. He is lucky they don’t have to play us next year. Their expectations are over the top. After listening to that I will be rooting for them to lose every game.
also, why does Pat Kraft sound almost exactly like Matt Rhule when he is speaking? 😂😂😂
Kraft went from a supposedly great AD to this? Is Campbell an upgrade?
Saw this clip posted on Twitter and was just amazed by how many Penn State fans were happy with what was heard and their biggest issue was with the player who secretly recorded the meeting.
Also, it was just reported that Matt Campbell is finalizing a deal. I actually was a fan of his before, but now I just hope he fails miserably.
Matt Campbell? Seems like a good coach. Should do well.
For the last couple weeks I wondered if Penn State was eliminating their football program. Guess not.
