You have to wonder if Haines will be a candidate for any of the G5 jobs that open up.

Absolutely a "concern". Obviously, I'd love him to stay but if something like the following happens: Bob Chesney is hired by Penn State, James Madison contacts Haines...I'd imagine he would think really hard about taking that opportunity.

The only question is would he take a significant pay decrease to go there? Bob Chesney makes a base salary of $550k and about $835k after incentives. Haines makes 2m before any incentives. So, he’d have to take a serious pay cut to go G5, but probably only he and his family knows whether he values being the head man more than the money. I would think he would hold out for a bigger job like MSU even though I hope if he leaves it wont be within the B1G.

Haines has just jumped up to this “elite” level in the B1G.  He may want to do this DC for a very good P4 program thing for a few years before jumping to a HC gig.  Win a lot, learn, and collect $2M+ per year and sort of secure his family’s finances (vs a G5 pay cut and risk as a HC).

I’m just guessing at one path he may take.  I’ve got no clue what he will do.  I’m sure he’ll be a HC at some point.

Florida is out of the Lane sweepstakes.  LSU the betting favorite by a big margin.

IMO, it is 100% if Smith wants to return he will.

No way State retools yet again. This soon. They need to improve what they can in the program to make it an attractive place to play. Its not the coach. Or not just the coach.
