"But the call on Bray on the long touchdown run, you know, they called it. I thought the guy kind of tripped. So it is what it is. And we’ll be fine."

Thought there was a look of disgust on his face during the presser when Cig talked about that Phantom Hold on Beebe's long TD run that got called back.

@middawg

If that was a Hold then the refs have missed every Hold out there since about 1970…

All I saw was Lynch lock him up and for whatever reason the guy went to the ground (which is the gold standard for a great block in my book)…

Like it or not, the reality is that in today’s game literally everyone is holding for the first 2.5 seconds, the refs only seem to call it at around 2.75 or when it’s so obvious they have to (arm stretched out pulling a handful of jersey [unless of course, you’re a MI player]…

@middawg If you add in that run, our rushing #s look OK. I thought our pass blocking seemed really good for a first game (maybe also aided by UNT's commitment to stopping the run), and it was run blocking that needed some attention. Also if you add special team return yardage to both teams offensive #s, they look a lot more like you'd expect them to with the score.

I jotted a few notes of my own down when I watched Howard in their first game.

I was fairly impressed by them. They appeared to be well coached and well prepared for it being their first outing. They played hard and looked like they had some speed at the skill positions on Offense…

Their O should give our D a good workout (if their line can sustain their blocks)…

Their QB has decent arm strength but is a bit erratic in the accuracy department. He’s a Big part of their Run Game. He’s not to be taken lightly or he’ll burn us… Likes to find his TE (Clark) who has good hands.

They have a WR named Jackson who looked dangerous.They liked to put their Tailback out in flat (in the Passing Game) after starting him in the I formation… OL looked above average against Alabama A&M (what that actually means against us I don’t know)…

They have a RB named Kearny (#4) who is p u level mouthy and probably could be lured into a penalty if we needed some key yardage…

The good news is: their DB’s looked very average or below… We should be able to throw at will against them.

Finally and perhaps most importantly: Our mascot can most likely kick their mascots a— and ours is definitely much better looking…

They should be able give our D the work they need…, without being too much of a major upset threat…

The Big Ten offices probably won’t need to feel like they have to intervene in this one… 😉😎[like they’d Ever do that for us🙄]
