Worth it.  Athletic dept revenue is going way up thanks football, plus there is all the exposure value IU got last season, which has to be worth $50-100M (there are a lot of different ways to value "earned media").

Pretty cool.

We are clearly now a football school and they are proving it by this. Football will get most of the money going forward

why do we need to extend him multiple times a year?

While worth it I'm sure, that is ridiculous.

Pretty sure the results from the season activated this bump in pay per his last contract.

It’s not ridiculous.

This is the result of the good faith review clause in his last deal requiring revision to make him a top-three coach nationally if IU reached the semifinal.”

@packtherock

Was wondering why there is a big difference between Haynes at +/+3.2 mil and Shanahan at +/-1.6 mil? Seems like a big difference considering how good the offense has been.. GoHoosiers

Probably the difference in either how important they are to keep or how much interest they have from other schools in stealing them.

With Cigs being from the offensive side of the ball, the OC is probably seen as less important.  Plus, other schools may not trust that the offense isn't more Cig's doing vs Shanahan.

Probably the case...although the post makes it sound like another brand new contract.

The already high salaries are skyrocketing.

I'm impressed with our administration. Trying to let that sink in as I'm usually critical.  Doing things correctly. Glory to old IU.  Awesome!  Go Hoosiers!

It's all in the article.

Not "Probably the case", it is 100% the case.

The article calls it a new contract and a fresh contract multiple times and refers to a previous contract twice.

It's the price to pay for what we have now.  100% worth it.

@hooky ... Exactly, based on how the old contract was written IU had to review and upgrade or they'd be in breach of CCC's contract.  I'm glad to see IU with the balls to have written it that way the first time.... Regardless of the price CCC's results make him a great value.

A long way from telling CTA he had to pay the buyout for an assistant out of his end.
