Burnerverse chirping sales is a 🔒. Hope they are right.
@d-b-cooper Just came on to say the same. All over Twitter. Wonder what caused the chatter today?
Burnerverse?
@lncolnpk Anonymous social media accounts that usually don't have much intel, but they will run with any rumor (and sometimes just make stuff up) for clicks and clout.
What can happen is one burner posts something, another one sees it and makes a post, then another sees it and makes a post... and so on. It can snowball and an unfounded rumor can run wild.
I can't say they never have intel, but I don't put any stock in what they say because they're wrong all the time.
@tammany one of them is right most of the time. He doesn’t say lock often. Only reason I pulled the trigger.
If we had Crystal Ball technology we have logged one for IU with 90% certainty
Thank you for reading Hoosier Huddle
Is Sales expected to commit this week? Saw an article that popped up in my FB feed that said at one point he'd said he would decide on or by July 10th, which is Friday.
@kkott the rumor is that Sales could announce his commitment this week. July 10 has been bandied about, as has a rumor that he might make the announcement on the Pat McAfee Show. I don't know if any of that will end up being accurate but there is zero doubt that we are in the final lap of the Sales recruitment.
@tjinman1987 My skeptical mind would think that even if he commits to IU here soon, that his recruitment will be far from over. For IU especially and specifically, I'll be fully excited about Monshun Sales wearing an IU uniform, when I hear about him moving in next summer. I think schools like Texas have more "capital" to keep kids like Sales committed, than IU does. It'll be a difficult task for Cig and the staff to keep him on board.
No matter what, it'll be huge to get his commitment if it happens!
@iunorth I'd agree that the top players probably hold all the cards, but for the amount of $$ being bandied about, are schools not asking for and getting contracts signed? They may decline, but I know if I were talking about giving players north of a million dollars for next year, I'd be asking them to sign a contract that they are coming. It would help protect the kids too. Wasn't it a kid from FL in the early days that had said the school had promised him 10+ million and reneged?
@iunorth Someone also mentioned that the #1 receiver, just ahead of Sales in some rankings, is committed to Texas, but that LSU is trying to flip him and UT's offer could climb a lot if they do lose him. Hopefully Sales is deciding before this happens, but as discussed, if they're not getting a contract signed, then schools will continue to recruit him.
@tjinman1987 Does he have an interview scheduled with Mcafee, or that's just the "talk"?
@iunorth I think the amount of time, all of the visits, and especially if he commits to his home school, I’d be surprised if Sales changes his mind. I think it will be a relief for him to put this behind him and concentrate on playing ball.
