@mrhighlife Give Schott some training at end!
Watched his hudl and was maybe more impressed by those snaps than his excellent receiving. Maybe because compared to much smaller DBs his wheels only looked good, but at DE he was burying guys in the backfield in a hurry, lol.
@openwheel IU just landed 3 DEs in the portal. They aren't playing Schott there
@thehoosierhuddle Yeah I know. Just saying he is an athlete. Great get.
Got no beef with this. In fact I like Schott a lot. I live not far from Leo and have seen him play twice. He is the real deal. But the comment I'm making is I believe this is the 1st portal recruit who is more potential than production for this staff. I have no doubt the production will appear soon.
@hoosier-clarion I posted earlier this morning but in a sleep insomnia induced fog I duplicated it and then deleted both instead of one. The real value in year 1 might be if we get by OU and face off against Miami. We get a guy that has been in the offense all year. Don’t hate that.

2nd....Steas(sp?), the TE from ND/TENN
Evansville-
Great point as to our new TE's value in scouting Miami in the Final...
Cig did something similar in bringing in our current 3rd string QB from Old Dominion (our 1st opponent last fall)... He doesn't leave a stone unturned and gets a possible eventual stater over the long haul... One thing is for certain: he didn't suddenly deviate from his "production over potential" rule for no good reason...
Indiana's TEs must block their tails off. It's mandatory. Brock Schott fills that need plus he can catch passes. A good get. All that said, Indiana will want an experienced TE that's been reliable.
What? I wake up this morning and no incoming stud transfers? Cig is losing it.
LOL. True, he's getting older, needs some rest now and then.
I'm pumped that he seems to have arranged it ahead of time to be able to focus on the game.
The very fun dismay on other teams message boards from Sunday that we were getting everybody has died down a little, LOL.
@openwheel - I am jealous of Cigs incredible time management skills. It would take me a few days to adjust to each change, and this guy seems to already have a plan in place JUST IN CASE that exact change happens.
@red-hornet There have been experienced tight ends in the portal but they have gone elsewhere. Not sure why IU didn’t pursue them.
@iugradman I don’t know the answer, but just a few ideas. Those guys may not fit our culture, or Cig may be happy with what he has. He may want to add more experience, but I don’t think he will do so to the detriment of our culture. You look at the guys on this team and they all have an humble personality. I was worried last year about replacing Horton, but man did Riley Nowakoski meet and exceed my expectations. Whatever they end up doing I have complete confidence in their assessment of the roster.

I would guess the biggest reason was we had not recruited them. Your chances with any given prospect are significantly increased if you had recruited them hard out of HS. That's especially important now as there is not much time to wine and dine strangers.
