The attention and fanfare surrounding the program is unprecedented for Indiana University football and Cignetti is now faced with the difficult task of building on what was put in place by his first Indiana team. The coaching staff has been very busy since the regular season ended, putting together an impressive portal class in hopes of assembling another strong roster and ensuring the Hoosiers are not a “one-hit wonder”.

Whitmer, a 33-year-old rising star in coaching, steps into the role previously held by Tino Sunseri, who recently accepted the offensive coordinator job at UCLA. While Sunseri wrapped up his duties at Indiana helping the program to a record 11 wins and a College Football Playoff berth, Whitmer is gearing up to bring his impressive résumé to Bloomington.

The Indiana Hoosiers have had a successful end to the week, grabbing Ohio State offensive line transfer Zen Michalski and then Old Dominion quarterback Grant Wilson to add depth to that position. Curt Cignetti struck again, bolstering Bob Bostad’s offensive line with the addition of former Indiana Hoosier Khalil Benson. Benson was with the Hoosiers under Tom Allen and left for a season in Boulder playing for the Colorado Buffaloes. After a struggle to begin the 2024 campaign, Benson played very well in the final ten games or so and was expected to be a coveted target when he entered the transfer portal earlier this week.

The Indiana Hoosiers picked up a late night portal addition in former Ohio State Buckeye offensive lineman Zen Michalski. The veteran lineman is from Floyds Knobs, Indiana and has played in 34 games in his Buckeye career. The 6’6” 309-pound offensive lineman played in the first seven games of the 2024 season before an injury knocked him out during Ohio State’s win over Nebraska.
