In less than two weeks, the day we never expected to see in 2020 will finally be here. On October 24th, the Indiana football squad will take the field to face Penn State at The Rock. With exactly 13 days to play, it’s only fitting to talk about the guys who will wear the No. 13 jerseys. Early today we featured Larry Tracy, so it’s Miles Marshall time.
Name – Miles Marshall
Position –Wide Receiver (Redshirt Sophomore)
Hometown – Lilburn, Georgia (Parkview)
Height – 6’4”
Weight – 208 pounds
It was in Lilburn, Georgia that Miles Marshall perfected his catch and run into the end zone. Seventy three receptions for 1,118 yards and 15 touchdowns sum up his high school career that was highlighted by two-time all-region and all-county selections, and five receiving records that still exist at Parkview High School. As the No.86 prospect in Georgia and No. 150 receiver in the nation (247 Sports), Marshall chose IU over a lengthy list of schools, including Purdue, Virginia, Vanderbilt and others.
Marshall burned his redshirt in 2018 after only making an appearance in the Rutgers game. As a freshman, he saw the field for 13 games and started against Purdue. He was a standout amongst the Hoosier wide receiver corps— last season, he racked up 16 catches for 196 yards and a touchdown, including a career-high 32-yard pass against nationally-ranked Michigan. His greatest performance of the season was against Purdue where he totaled 4 catches for 49 yards.
As a veteran receiver for the Hoosiers, Marshall will help fill the gap left by Nick Westbrook and Donavan Hale. With Whop Philyor at the forefront, I expect to see him, Ty Fryfogle and Marshall have the most touches of the receivers in 2020.
