In an effort to provide some entertainment and scratch that sports itch during this time when every major sport in the United States is shut down due to COVID-19, we are taking a dive deep into the archives of the Big Ten Network and Galen Clavio to shine light on some old Indiana football games. While we are disappointed there are no live sports going on, we understand the precautions that have been taken. We want everyone to stay healthy and want to give the doctors, nurses and the rest of the healthcare workers the best opportunity to help those who need it without crushing the system.

Everyone needs a distraction and some fun during this time. So, on this Saturday we will take a look back at Indiana’s 1992 homecoming game against the Wisconsin Badgers on October 24th. The Hoosiers game into the game at 3-3 while the Badgers were 4-2 as Bill Mallory clashed with Barry Alverez for the third time. The game is available on both YouTube and BTN+.

It has been a whirlwind of a year for Indiana Hoosiers football. Fans saw IU reach a bowl game for a second consecutive season – the program’s first back-to-back bowl appearances since Bill Mallory’s 1989-1991 teams. After the 2015-2016 season, quarterback Nate Sudfeld, running back Jordan Howard, and offensive lineman Jason Spriggs were all selected in the NFL draft. Despite losing a wealth of offensive talent, Indiana’s emergence on the defensive end allowed the team to enjoy some success last season. As we all now know, the defensive improvement can be credited to first-year defensive coordinator, Tom Allen.

Countdown to Kickoff: 96 Days (Yeronimo Ciriaco)

With 96 days left until the Hoosiers kickoff against the Salukis we pause to remember former Hoosier #96 Yeronimo Ciriaco who passed away on August 21, 2004 at the age of 26 when died from a seizure that caused a car accident. The former defensive tackle played for Indiana from 1996-1999. Ciriaco came to IU with aspirations to learn English and become a college football strength and conditioning coach. He achieved these goals graduating from IU with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree and had been hired by Illinois as an assistant coach just before he passed away.
