Sandalwood DB Quran Hafiz Talks IU Offer

The Indiana Hoosiers peppered the country with offers yesterday, especially in the state of Florida. Hoosier Huddle had a chance to talk with three-star corner Quran Hafiz about his offer from the Hoosiers. Halfiz is rated as the 72nd best corner in the country and the 111th best prospect in Florida and 742nd nationally according to 247 Sports. He holds offers from South Florida, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, Troy, Charlotte, Toledo, and Southern Mississippi. Hafiz was offered by the Hoosiers on Thursday and has been recruited by head coach Kevin Wilson and assistant Scott Gasper.
Hafiz is a junior at Sandalwood H.S. in Jacksonville, Fl, which happens to be the same high school as current Hoosier signee and wide receiver Phil Benker. Although Hafiz says he doesn't "know too much about IU," he has "two close friends who signed with them this year" in Phil Benker and Khalil Bryant. Hafiz said he spoke to Benker as soon as the Hoosiers offered him. He also said that he and Benker would "always go at it, he (Benker) is a great receiver."
In nine games his junior season, Hafiz 24 total tackles, picked off a pass, recovered a fumble and had five passes defended. At six-foot-one and 178-pounds, Hafiz has great size to translate to the next level. He has his 40-yard dash time listed at 4.59, so he has decent speed which should be improved once he enters a college strength program. He has a nose for the ball and can run down hill to stop the run and makes plays in the passing game.
Hafiz does plan on visiting Bloomington over the summer and does not have a time table on when he'll commit.
