Reports: Hoosiers to Hire Matt Guerrieri as Co-Defensive Coordinator and Safeties Coach

The Indiana Hoosiers have rounded out their coaching staff prior to the start of spring practice as Adam Rittenberg of ESPN reported that IU will hire Matt Guerrieri will join the staff as co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach. Guerrieri is replacing Jason Jones who left the Hoosiers to join the staff at North Carolina.

Guerrieri is coming to Bloomington shortly after being hired by former IU head coach Kevin Wilson at Tulsa. Wilson brought Guerrieri to Tulsa from Ohio State where he was a defensive analyst.

Prior to Ohio State, Guerrieri was at Duke University from 2012-2021. He started as a graduate assistant with the Blue Devils in 2012 and worked his way up the ranks to co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach in 2018 and held that position until 2021. Guerrieri was a finalist for the American Football Coaches Association’s assistant coach of the year award in 2020.

The Hoosiers begin spring practice on March 4th and will host a Spring Football Event in Bloomington on April 15th.
