Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm has released his 2021 Spring Football Proposal to the public on Thursday morning. The nine-page document covers everything from practice schedules to weather at each Big Ten school in March as compared to November.

Brohm proposes a spring season that features an eight-game schedule that starts February 27th and wraps up on April 17th and a Fall Season that has a 10-game schedule with an October 2nd start and December 11th finish. He also proposes a way to tie in college basketball during the spring as well where football is played on Saturdays while basketball can be played on Sundays.

The “preseason” would start January 16th (about six weeks prior to the first game) with a two week “Training Camp Bulidup” where athletes would have a 16-hour week (shown below). A four-week training camp would start January 30th and run until February 26th.

There are two plans for the schedule of games for the spring. ‘Plan A’ would have six divisional games and two crossover games, while ‘Plan B’ which was proposed by Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh would feature six divisional games, one crossover game and one seeded game against the other division determined by order of finish.

There would be practice limitations as well with only one padded practice allowed per week in season and no traditional spring practice for the Spring of 2022.

Brohm provides comparisons on the wear and tear on athletes under the current format and his proposed format. There is also a chart with the current NFL model as well.
