Indiana linebacker Micah McFadden was selected in the fifth round (146th overall) of the NFL Draft by the New York Giants. McFadden’s selection extends IU’s draft streak to nine straight years.

McFadden was an anchor on the IU defense the last three seasons and played in 45 games and finished his career with 216 total tackles, 37 tackles for loss and 14 sacks. He has a nose for the ball as well as McFadden had four interceptions and three fumble recoveries as well. In 2020, McFadden earned All-American honors and was a three-time All-Big Ten selection.

Nate Comp wrote about McFadden earlier this week saying “In terms of how his game projects to the next level, McFadden’s biggest concern is his size. While on a smaller scale, he is receiving similar treatment as Nakobe Dean; Dean was clearly the most productive player on Georgia’s defense last year but is not receiving the same attention from the pros as many of his counterparts. McFadden is well built physically and has an extremely high motor, but his measurables put him below average and make NFL scouts wary of him. He is best known for his ability to read blocks and instinctively get into the soft spots of the offensive line for TFLs.”

McFadden is the 11th Hoosier to be drafted by the Giants.
