Redshirt junior wide receiver was booked into a Hamilton County (Ind.) jail Saturday night for failing to provided indentification. A second charge or resisting arrest was filed Sunday according to multiple reports.

According to social media, he was attending a concert Saturday night. The Indiana Athletic Department released a statement Sunday afternoon stating:

"Indiana University Athletics and the IU football program are aware of the arrest of redshirt junior Simmie Cobbs Jr. We will continue to gather facts, monitor the legal process and take action as the evolving situation warrants."

Cobbs missed all but one play in 2016 due to a one-game suspension and a leg injury that knocked him out after his only play on offense against Ball State in the second week. Cobbs was expected to be a major contributor in 2017 and his presence would give IU one of the best receiving corps in the Big Ten.
