IU Football Part of First-of-Its Kind Charitable NIL Campaign to Stop Gun Violence

Today, Hoosiers For Good and Stop the Violence Indianapolis announced a first-of-its-kind charitable NIL partnership with IU Football that will challenge young people to choose healthy alternatives to gun violence.

IU Football athletes have an outsized voice in the community and a combined reach of more than 500,000 followers on Twitter and Instagram. As a team, they have chosen to use their NIL platform to share messages on their social media accounts about positive alternatives to gun violence with the hashtag #teamupforpeace—because

· in the state of Indiana, black children, men, and women are 14 times more likely to die from gun violence than their white peers

· in Marion County, 550 young people are currently being prosecuted for gun-related crimes

· conflict-fueled gun violence rarely happens in isolation, and in many cases, the disputes that lead to violence begin on social media, escalated by a misplaced desire to belong

·   mentors play a monumental role in helping young people navigate the mounting pressures they face today
