The Indiana Hoosiers 10-0 season is starting to pay dividends on the recruiting trail as Indianapolis edge rusher Tyrone Burrus flips his commitment from Louisville to IU.

He changed his commitment to IU after spending time on campus at multiple games this fall. The Warren Central High School star also competes in track and field and owns personal bests of 7.48 in the 60-meter dash, 11.99 in the 100-meter and 24.76 in the 200-meter. Burrus has also recorded a jump of five feet in the high jump. He had 16 tackles for loss and 19 quarterback hits during his junior season and enters the 2024 campaign as a favorite to make the All-State team for the Warriors.

Burrus was the top edge prospect remaining on the board for the Hoosiers and securing his commitment was a major priority for the staff. He is a high-three star prospect and ranked the seventh best player in the state by 247Sports.

What’s more, recent Indiana teams have struggled to convince top in-state prospects to stay and play for the Hoosiers given the long-standing poor perception of the program for Indiana high school players. Getting a player like Burrus from a powerhouse program like Warren Central is proof of concept that the perception is changing under head coach Curt Cignetti. Burrus joins fellow defensive linemen Jhrevious Hall, Keishaun Calhoun and Triston Abram in the class. They will play for position coaches Buddha Williams and Indiana native Pat Kuntz.

Burris is the Hoosiers’ 21st commitment in the 2025 recruiting class.
