Let me start this off with saying no article, no 280-character tweet, no Facebook status and no highlight reel will really show what kind of special talent Jordan Jusevitch is. My job is to try though and trust me, this kid is one of the good ones on and off the field.

It all started for Jordan when he was 5 years old. He started playing Pop Warner at that age, but it didn't take very much longer until he realized he may just be able to make something from his play on the field. In 8th grade, Jordan started believing in himself and with the help of friends, coaches, family and his teammates along the way, he received his first official scholarship offer from Central Michigan when he was a sophomore at Lowell. One of his biggest supporters who Jordan has leaned heavily on is his father Chris Jusevitch. I asked Jordan about the role his father has played and he said, “He has helped me get where I am today. I owe him so much for all the sacrifices he has made for me”. The funny thing is, if you know his father or even follow him on social media, you would know those sacrifices were well worth it as he is constantly bragging about his son whether it is about his football accolades or just for the type of kid his son has turned out to be. Nothing is clearer than how proud he is of Jordan and he is no doubt his number one fan.

Turn the page unto his senior season, where The thing is Jordan has accomplished so much in his football career so far and yet it has only just begun. I could talk about how he has led his Lowell Red Devils to a 14-0 record in his senior season. I could mention how he has 19 career interceptions. It wouldn't be fair if I didn't mention that he is one of the finalist for the prestigious Mr. Football in Indiana award. I would also feel bad if I somehow left out how his 3 touchdowns last week, which his teams only scores in Lowell's Semi State matchup with Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger. It really wouldn't feel right if I mentioned that without saying those 3 touchdowns got his team the W and a shot at a State title against East Central. When I asked Jordan what this year has meant to him, his response was, “It has been awesome being able to build our program back up and have the chance to bring home a championship for our coaches and our community, as well as everyone involved. It’s a dream come true”. If you noticed, Jordan always mentions those around him first, even when he is one of the key pieces to that success. He is happy to get to this point, but his mission isn’t nearly finished. His goal is nothing short of winning that State Championship.

Once Jordan is done with his high school career, his mission is far from over. He has chosen to take his football career to the B1G, Bloomington, IN to be exact. As much as he has accomplished you would think college coaches all over the country were knocking down his door to get a chance to talk him into playing for their school. The truth is, only 5 D1 schools have offered him a scholarship at this point. Central Michigan of course, Ball State, Toledo and Western Michigan were the other schools besides Tom Allen and Indiana. Even if the offers were rolling in, Jordan sees IU as home. “When I got on campus, I loved everything about it. The coaches have always been great and I love the direction coach Allen is leading the program in and I just wanted to be a part of that as well as trying to bring a National Championship to my home school”. IU has a long way to go to be in the picture for a National Championship, but with a coach like Tom Allen and his staff along with players like Jordan Jusevitch, they are on the right track. Right now though, Jordan knows his current team and his future team have a chance to take steps towards those goals this weekend. The Red Devils playing for a State Championship and the Hoosiers with a shot to keep the bucket as they’ve done the last 4 years as well as make them bowl eligible for the 3rd time in as many years.

The one thing that many people wouldn’t expect from a six-foot 200-pound safety, is that he loves to read. Reading is seen as a stress reliever and something Jordan really enjoys doing. Another thing that worries me, as one day he could very well be the guy taking my job is that he loves to write as well. I get the chance to talk to a lot of athletes and those two things aren’t usually mentioned when asked about hobbies or even something they like to do.

Like I said at the beginning of this, this kid is special and this weekend he will add to his accomplishments win or lose just by getting to the championship. The one thing I wouldn't do is count this kid out. Under recruited and under ranked at a laughable 1434 in the 247 composite, Jordan will once again aim to prove people wrong. The one thing I do know for sure, is I’m glad to call this kid a Hoosier.
