Indiana WR Whop Philyor Added to Biletkinoff Award Watch List

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana junior wide receiver Whop Philyor has been added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club announced on Wednesday morning. The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the season's outstanding FBS receiver in college football.
Philyor tops the Big Ten with 57 receptions (T-6th nationally) and 737 yards (14th nationally), and he has three touchdowns in 2019. His 7.1 catches per game (9th), and his 92.1 yards per game (19th) also pace the league.
The Tampa Plant grad is the only FBS player to record three double-digit reception games, an IU single-season record, and is tied for the conference lead with three 100-yard games.
Philyor hauled in 14 balls for 178 yards at Nebraska last weekend, 14 for 142 with two TDs at Michigan State and 10 for 182 against Rutgers.
According to Pro Football Focus College, his 384 yards after contact top the conference (11th nationally).
The award recipient is selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers. Foundation trustees do not vote and have never voted.
The 2019 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on Dec. 12, 2019, at the College Football Hall of Fame on The Home Depot College Football Awards presented by Gildan to be broadcast 7-9 p.m. (EST) on ESPN.
The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., will announce the ten Biletnikoff Award semifinalists on Nov. 18, 2019, following the vote by the distinguished members of the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee. Likewise, the three finalists will be declared, following another vote, on Nov. 25, 2019. The name Biletnikoff is synonymous with the term receiver. Fred Biletnikoff, a member of the pro and college football halls of fame, was a consensus All-America receiver at Florida State University, and an All-Pro receiver for the Oakland Raiders. He caught 589 passes for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns in his 14-year Raiders career from 1965 through 1978. Fred was the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XI.
