Each day a new decision from Indiana football’s seniors come in. On Wednesday it was the decision that senior defensive tackle Jerome Johnson would be declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft. Johnson was a fifth-year senior and the anchor in the middle of IU’s defense.

Hoosier Nation,

In 2016 I started a new chapter of my life. I became a part of a team; A team that would eventually grow to become much more than just that, my family. I’ve grown so much over the past 5 years and none of that would have been possible without the encouragement and belief from my teammates and coaches. We’ve all shared so many memories and accomplished so many things over the course of my time at Indiana. I’m proud to call myself a Hoosier and will continue to years from now. No one knows exactly what the future holds, but I would like to think that it holds many great things for all of us. I wold like to thank my family, coaches, teammates and friends for experiencing this chapter of my life with me, but with that this chapter must come to an end. I will not be returning for another season at IU as I will start a new chapter pursing my dream of playing at the professional level.

Thank you Hoosier Nation!

Jerome Johnson #98

Johnson was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2020 after posting 18 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. His production and leadership will be tough to replace along the line.
