Countdown to 2020 IUFB Kickoff: 42 Days (DK Bonhomme)
/Written by Andrew Walker
There are now 42 days until the scheduled kickoff of the 2020 Indiana Football season and Hoosier Huddle’s Countdown to Kickoff continues its run on the linebacker position with sophomore D.K. Bonhomme.
Name – D.K. Bonhomme
Position – Linebacker
Hometown – Ottawa, Ontario (Clearwater Academy International (Fla.)
Height – 6’3”
Weight – 235 pounds
D.K. Bonhomme suited up in 11 Indiana Football games in 2019, with his lone tackle coming on special teams. Even though he only recorded one tackle his freshman year, Bonhomme is quite the athlete and was an integral part of Clearwater Academy in Florida. Posting 100 tackles, 71 solo, eight sacks, 22 TFLs, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception and two blocked punts as a senior, Bonhomme made quite the name for himself in the eyes of college recruits.
Offered by the likes of Temple, Rutgers, Nebraska, and UCF, the young Canadian, ranked the no. 48 OLB nationally, chose the Hoosiers as his collegiate destination. Being part of such a deep linebacker core is going to make it hard for Bonhomme to shine through early in his college career, but given the innate talent and work ethic, he should find his way into the starting rotation before long.
Bonhomme is the first Canadian to join Indiana Football since OL Paul Hearn in 2003.
