How the IUFB Alumni fared in the NFL Week Two

Week two fo the NFL season is in the books. Here is how the IU football alumni performed in week two.

Tevin Coleman – San Francisco 49ers

Tevin Coleman sprained his ankle on his first play from scrimmage last week in the 49ers win against the Buccaneers. San Francisco will be without Coleman, whose recovery timetable will likely keep him out another four weeks. Coleman has 6 carries for 23 yards and 2 receptions for 33 yards on the season. The 49ers defeated the Bengals this week and are 2-0 on the season.

Jordan Howard – Philadelphia Eagles

In his second game with the Philadelphia Eagles, Jordan Howard had 8 carries for 18 yards, good for 2.3 yards-per-carry. The Eagles lost to the Falcons 24-20 and couldn’t do much of anything against Atlanta’s defensive front. Howard added one reception for 8 yards. As the season progresses, Howard will work to find a bigger role within Philadelphia’s offense. 

Ian Thomas – Carolina Panthers 

Ian Thomas was not targeted in Carolina’s uninspiring loss at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite Cam Newton’s 51 passing attempts, the quarterback struggled mightily, and Thomas was unable to record a statistic. The Panthers hope to regroup against Arizona next week and Ian Thomas will continue to find a role within Carolina’s offense. 

Cody Latimer – New York Giants

Wide receiver Cody Latimer entered week two questionable with a calf strain.  Latimer gutted it out and played through the pain. He caught three passes for 30 yards before unfortunately suffering a concussion. Latimer will enter concussion protocol and his status will likely be week-to-week.  

Nate Sudfeld – Philadelphia Eagles 

IU legend Nate Sudfeld suffered a fracture in his non-throwing wrist and had surgery before the season started. It is estimated Sudfeld will make a full recovery and return to action in about five weeks. Sudfeld will continue to serve as Carson Wentz’s backup on the Philadelphia Eagles when he returns.

Chris Covington – Dallas Cowboys

Chris Covington was inactive for the Cowboys this week in their win over Washington.

Dan Feeney – Los Angeles Chargers

Dan Feeney and the Chargers lost a heartbreaker in Detroit in a game where they missed two field goals and turned it over twice, including a late interception as LA was in scoring range.

Brandon Knight – Dallas Cowboys

Brandon Knight was inactive for Dallas’ victory in Washington over the Redskins.   

Wes Martin – Washington Redskins

Wes Martin, rookie offensive guard, was inactive for Washington in Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys.

Roger Saffold – Tennessee Titans 

Roger Saffold and the Titans suffered their first loss of the season against the Indianapolis Colts at home. Tennessee failed to mount a comeback, losing 19-17 and now stand 1-1 on the year.
