Hoosiers Welcome Eight Prospects for Official Visits This Weekend
/Written By Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
Eight more 2017 prospects will be in Bloomington this weekend for official visits according to a list published by Matt Weaver of Peegs.com. National Signing Day is about a week-and-a-half away and the Hoosiers are trying to close out the 2017 class strong. Here is a little bit about each prospect on campus:
Hoosier Commits
1. Alfred Bryant, DE, Manvel, TX, 247Sports Composite Rank: 3-Stars
Bryant, a weak-side defensive end, committed to the Hoosiers on July 2nd. Bryant brings a skill set that was missing for most of the year along the defensive line. He's a long, quick end who can get to the quarterback or knock balls down with his long wingspan. Bryant had 19 total offers and chose Indiana over Arkansas, California, Cincinnati, Colorado, and Illinois. Here is Bryant's HUDL Tape.
2. Ladamion Hunt, CB, Carrolton, GA, 247Sports Composite Rank: 3-Stars
Hunt committed to play for the Hoosiers in mid-July and he could be a player who will see the field early as a freshman. The six-foot corner is coming in to give that group some much needed reinforcements. Hunt is a corner with great length and good speed. His tape shows footwork that will need to be worked on but he has above average physical tools and, with some development, he has the potential to be a very good defensive back in Tom Allen’s defense. You can watch Hunt's HUDL Tape from his senior year here. He chose Indiana over Minnesota, Purdue, Louisville, and West Virginia among others.
Prospects Who Are Uncommitted of Committed Elsewhere
1. Morgan Ellison, RB, Pickerington, OH, 247Sports Composite Rank: 3-Stars, Uncommitted
Ellison should have Hoosier fans drooling after watching his senior tape. After battling back from injury, the Ohio running back had a tremendous year. IU offered him on Jan. 18th after he de-committed from Ohio on Jan. 16th. At six-foot-one and 221 pounds Ellison is a bigger framed running back and his running style reminds me a bit of Jordan Howard. He does run a 4.59 40-yard dash according to his HUDL page. Fans can watch Ellison's senior highlight tape here.
2. David Felton, ATH, Evansville, IN, 247Sports Composite Rank: Unranked, Uncommitted
Felton is a six-foot-three 200-pound athlete who was a dual-threat quarterback for William Henry Harrison H.S. in Evansville in 2016. He currently does not hold an offer from any school. Felton had unofficially visited IU twice in November this season (Penn State and Purdue). During his senior season, Felton threw for 1,281 yards and 14 touchdowns while adding another 1,121 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. Here are Felton's HUDL highlights.
3. Sam Garvin, OG, Fishers, IN, 247Sports Composite Rank: 2-Stars, Uncommitted
Garvin is the 36th best player in the state of Indiana and has offers from Air Force and Columbia. He projects to play on the interior of the offensive line at the next level. Here are Garvin's senior highlights on HUDL.
4. Craig Nelson, RB, Miami, FL, Scout Inc. Rank: 2-Stars, Uncommitted
Nelson has offers from Indiana and Idaho. The running back from Florida picked up All-Dade County honors after scoring 15 touchdowns. At 5-foot-11 he is an ideal size for running back and has solid speed clocking in a 4.5 40-yard dash on his HUDL page. He can line up in the slot as well as in the backfield and could give the Hoosiers a very versatile weapon. Watch his senior highlights here.
5. Malik Robinson, LB, Snellville, GA, 247Sports Composite Rank: 3-Stars, UNC Commit
Indiana probably wants to take another linebacker in the class since that unit is one of the more veteran laden parts of the team. Robinson would be a nice flip for IU. At 6-foot 223 pounds he has good size to fit into the Big Ten. Here is his HUDL highlight film from his junior year.
6. Nick Tronti, QB, Ponte Vedra, FL, 247Sports Composite Rank: 2-Stars, Charlotte Commit
With the staff changes at IU, the offense could use a dual-threat QB and that is exactly what Nick Tronti is. He is currently a UNC-Charlotte commit, but his recruitment has taken off in the last month or so. IU offered him on January 5th and he picked up an offer from Arizona on January 20th. His 53 total touchdown performance this past season earned him Florida's Mr. Football award. He threw for 3,328 yards and ran for another 650. Here are his highlights from his senior season.
