IU Athletics Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana football program announced today the addition of linebacker T.D. Roof, a 5-11, 215-pound transfer from Georgia Tech. He played in all 11 games as a true freshman in 2017.

Roof is enrolled at IU in the 2018 spring semester, will begin practicing with the Hoosiers this spring and will have three years of eligibility, starting in the fall of 2019.

"T.D. Roof is a young man that we recruited heavily in the previous recruiting cycle," Allen said. "We are thrilled to have him join us as a transfer from Georgia Tech. We're really excited about what he will bring to our linebacking corps and ultimately to our football program."

Roof totaled 17 tackles with a pair of sacks for the Yellow Jackets. The Buford, Ga., native posted a season-high six stops at Duke on Nov. 18 and collected both sacks against Jacksonville State on Sept. 9.

A Buford High School graduate, Roof earned first team all-state and all-county honors twice. He helped the program to four consecutive state title appearances, winning in 2013 and 2014.

Roof made 94 tackles, seven for loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and seven quarterback hurries as a senior. He also rushed for 459 yards and 11 touchdowns.

His father, Ted, owns 31 years of collegiate coaching experience and is currently the associate head coach, co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach at North Carolina State University. Roof's twin brother, Mic, is a quarterback at the University of Charlotte.
