Hoosiers Hire Adam Henry as WR Coach and Co-OC

The surprising departure of Grant Heard left a whole on the Indiana University offensive coaching staff. Tom Allen had already replaced the running back coach and offensive coordinator on offense as well as the defensive line coach and defensive coordinator and he would now need to plug another hole during this offseason. This time, right at the beginning of spring practice. While the timing of the departure is less than ideal, the Hoosiers needed changes after the 2-10 season in 2021 and they have now made what they hope is the final hire of this particular coaching carousel cycle.

Adam Henry has been hired as the new wide receiver coach and co-offensive coordinator for the Indiana Hoosiers. He worked for the New York Giants as the wide receiver coach while new associate head coach Craig Johnson was the Giants running backs coach. Henry began his career as the wide receiver coach for McNeese State in Louisiana and worked there from 1997 to 2005. He moved up to offensive coordinator and assistant head coach for one season and then jumped to the Oakland Raiders as a quality control coach for two seasons in 2007 and 2008. The Raiders were impressed enough to move him up to tight ends coach from 2009 to 2011 before he returned to college, this time with LSU as the pass game coordinator and wide receiver coach from 2012 to 2014. While in Baton Rouge, he coached Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry. Henry returned to the NFL as a wide receiver coach in San Francisco, the aforementioned New York Giants, Cleveland Browns and the past two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

The IU offensive coaching staff has now seen significant changes after the disastrous campaign of 2021 (and a subpar offense in 2020). Craig Johnson, Adam Henry and returnees Darren Hiller and Kevin Wright are now under new offensive coordinator Walt Bell as they try to jumpstart the attack in Bloomington.
