Hoosiers High School Recruiting Class of 2024 Recruiting Update
/Written by Ethan Roberts
The Hoosiers class of 2024 is in the process of being built by staff and is currently ranked 55th in the country. The class is headlined by 3-star QB Timothy Carpenter.
Carpenter, haling out of Dayton, Ohio, is ranked as high as 25th at his position by 247Sports. The 6-foot-3 215 pound multi-sport athlete draws comparisions to Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith. He has led his school, Trotwood-Madison, to a 3-1 record so far in his senior season.
The month of June was eventful for the staff as they aquired nine commitments. Headlinging the month of June was 3-star interior offensive lineman Adedamola Ajani.
Ajani, hailing out of Speedway, Indiana, is ranked 43rd nationally at his position according to 247Sports and is a top-10 prospect in the state of Indiana according to composite rankings.
What positions will they address next
The first position that sticks out is the running back position. Head coach Tom Allen and staff didn’t receive a commitment from the position in the 2023 class and is yet to pick one up for the class of 2024.
While the position on the field is set for the next two seasons with Josh Henderson (senior) and Jaylin Lucas (sophomore), the importance in recruting the position will be to set up long-term success with the ground game.
The Hoosiers have six offers to uncommited running backs.
Defensively, the line only has one commitment in the 2024 class. With the 2023 class only having one defensive line commitment, the staff may look to 2024 to solidy the versatility of the front seven.
How does the 2024 class stack up with the Big Ten
The Hoosiers class is currently 17th in the Big Ten according to 247Sports if we include the newly added west coast members. That slots the Hoosiers over only Northwestern. However, the average prospect grade (86.10) stacks up well with Illinois (86.54), Rutgers (86.78), Maryland (86.88) and Minnesota (87.02).
Something to pay attention to is how new NIL measues will affect recruiting. While it is too early to tell, the new measures such as on-field seating will likely help attract recruit and transfer prospects.
