Hoosiers For Good Signs Winter 2023 Class that Includes Eight Football Players
/Bloomington, Ind. – Hoosiers For Good Inc, an official NIL partner of Indiana University Athletics, announced a winter class of 19 community-minded Indiana University athletes who will use their platform and influence to raise awareness for 11 Indiana-based charities, including six new charity partners.
This third class of Hoosiers For Good athletes represents eight IU athletics programs, including the IU women’s basketball team, baseball, men’s soccer, football, volleyball, women’s track and field, women’s diving, and women’s water polo.
Through their agreements with Hoosiers For Good, each student athlete will provide a variety of services to their paired charity partner, including in-person appearances and social media posts to promote these appearances and their charity. Since its inception in 2022, Hoosiers For Good has become an example to other organizations in the NIL space, with other collectives modeling their efforts around the Hoosiers For Good model.
“We’re excited that our third Hoosiers For Good class not only includes men and women who represent a number of IU Athletics programs, but also that this group of community-minded leaders has huge potential to even further increase awareness for 11 Indiana-based charities,” said Tyler Harris, Executive Director of Hoosiers For Good. “Our charity partners have shared that having IU athletes promote their organizations has increased awareness, donations, and excitement, and we’re grateful for our supporters who have contributed to these athletes making a difference in our community.”
The Indiana Chapter of A Kid Again, a children’s charity that serves families who are raising kids living with life-threatening conditions, was paired with IU Men’s Basketball athlete Xavier Johnson in the Hoosiers For Good Summer ‘22 class. Katie Demas, Development Assistant for A Kid Again, shared that Johnson’s partnership significantly increased the organization’s reach on social media.
“Xavier widens our reach tremendously,” said Demas. “In a recent post with Xavier, in less than 24 hours, we had 9,732 views and we gained about 10 new followers. Those numbers were huge for us as we just launched our chapter Instagram and only had 205 followers total.”
A Kid Again will be supported by IU Baseball athlete Phillip Glasser in the Winter ‘23 class, who pitched a project through the Hoosiers For Good Charitable Incubator Program. The Charitable Incubator Program allows IU student athletes who are passionate and committed to charitable work to submit applications to complete projects designed to raise awareness for an Indiana charity of their choice.
Along with Glasser, IU Football athlete Sean Wracher submitted an application to raise awareness for Healing Hands, an outreach center that provides free resources and services in the areas of homelessness, hunger, and poverty. Hoosiers For Good will provide Glasser and Wracher with support and resources to execute projects for their charity partner, and grow their voice as a community-minded student athlete.
