The Indiana Hoosiers made waves on the recruiting trail on Thursday afternoon as three-star Florida defensive back Taiwan Mullen. Mullen is rated at the 504th best player in the nation according to 247 Sports and the 46th best corner nationally. Mullen held 20 offers and chose the Hoosiers over Nebraska and Pittsburgh.

Mullen, out of Coconut Creek H.S. in Pompano Beach, FL, is 5-10 and 160 pounds. He has a nose for the ball and possesses good corner skills, as well as outstanding hands, and a body built like a safety. This is a major win on the recruting trail for the 2-0 Hoosiers. He has also been selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American game.

Mullen announced his decision on Twitter and made a statement regarding his commitment:

“First off, I would like to thank the Lord for blessing me with an amazing talent. I prayed & grinded for this day to come. I am truly thankful that I’m given the opportunity to make an impact on my family’s life. I want to thank my MOM-DAD-BROTHERS-SISTER for being there for me through the ups/downs. I would also like to thank the Coaching Staff at Coconut Creek High School; thank you guys for your continuous support and molding me into the LEADER/SOLDIER/CHIEF that I am today. I would also like to thank all the schools that recruited and gave me an opportunity to be a student-athlete at your university. So with that being said (I’ll be committing to the University of INDIANA) Go Hoosiers!”

Mullen is IU’s 15th commitment in the 2019 class which is currently ranked 49th nationally and 11th in the Big Ten by 247 Sports. IU cornerbacks coach Brandon Shelby did the heavy lifting to land Mullen in Bloomington.
