The Hoosiers had a tough loss to Ohio State over the weekend, giving up 54 points to an elite offense. However, if the Hoosiers want to bounce back and make a bowl game, they need to execute better.

“Our goal is to keep the offense from scoring, so for us, I don’t think it is about any added pressure, it's more about execution that is critical,” defensive coordinator Charlton Warren said during his Monday press conference. “We don’t have a margin to bust, you don’t have a margin for metal lapses.”

Against Ohio State, the Hoosiers defense struggled mightily because of all of the talent on the Buckeyes offense. As far as combatting that, Warren said that it is all about group tackling rather than having a one vs one tackle in open space.

Warren attributed the loss to the talent in the wide receivers room of Ohio State. It was something that they have never seen before. Warren also took the blame for the game plan for the game.

“We need to watch the tape, and see the guys battling in the second quarter, you watch the tape and see in the third quarter do they come out and get a sack,” Warren said.

Warren appreciated all of the players battling throughout the entire Ohio State game, and said there was no quit for this team.

As far as the upcoming game against Maryland, the focus shifts to another well coached team in the Terrapins.

“They are very dynamic, you have a dual threat quarterback, who does a great job of improvising and making plays with his feet to set up the pass game,” Warren said.

Warren also said that they have a great scheme, and a very athletic tight end, and a running back that is good in the run and passing game as well.

So, the Hoosiers defense will have their hands full if they want to end the losing streak and bounce back for their first conference win of the season.
