The early signing period for college football is now open and prospects and transfers are inking letters of intent all over the country. Hoosier Huddle will have profiles on all the football signees as well as an update from head coach Tom Allen.
On Wednesday morning the Hoosiers added cornerback Jamier Johnson, a sophomore transfer from the University of Texas. Johnson was a highly-rated recruit out of Pasadena, California. He Played 17 games over two seasons at Texas before going into the transfer portal. In those 17 games, Johnson has seven tackles and a pass break-up.
247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins projected Johnson as a late-round draft pick coming out of high school and had this scouting report about him:
“Long, athletic corner with the kind of length colleges covet these days. Shows the ability to play some receiver as well but his upside is highest in the secondary. Has good cover instincts and can turn and run with a receiver without needing to clutch and grab. Will need to fill out some and get stronger but shows physicality in run support. Is smooth and the game just looks easy for him. Could see him transition to safety because of his range and ability to make plays on the football. Projects as a impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future high round NFL draft pick.”
