Indiana head coach Tom Allen announced on Tuesday afternoon that senior running back David Ellis and redshirt junior defensive back Deland McCullough II will be given medical hardship waivers, effectively ending their football careers at IU.

Ellis played in 21 one games and dealt with multiple injuries over his time at IU. He had 126 rushing yards, 308 receiving yards and 629 kick return yards for the Hoosiers in three seasons.

Ellis came to IU with the potential to be a jack of all trades on offense. Unfortunately, injuries limited his effectiveness and time on the field.

McCullough II transferred to IU from Miami (OH) ahead of the 2021 season. He appeared in 10 games for the Hoosier and accumulated no stats.

Allen said he “respect(s) those guys, proud of them, appreciate them, and they'll stay with us here in a different capacity until they graduate.”
