Curt Cignetti Makes Case For Indiana to Host CFP Game on Big Ten Championship Pregame Show

The Indiana Hoosiers capped off an 11-1 (8-1) regular season last week with a 66-0 shutout over Purdue. IU found themselves seeded 10th in the penultimate College Football Playoff bracket, which would put them on the road for the first round game. Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti was on CBS prior to the Big Ten Championship Game between Penn State and Oregon stating his case for the Hoosiers to host the first round CFP game.

“Here's my question” Cignetti said, “right now there six one loss teams in the country, right? Okay, we lost to the second ranked team on the road, Penn State lost to the fourth ranked team at home. Texas lost to the fifth ranked team at home. Boise lost his seventh ranked team. Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois, and SMU that's a loss to an unknown at the time they played. So how are we not right now seated for a home game? That's what I want to know.”

Cignetti cited the Hoosiers dominance all year and even took out the non-Power Four games. “P4 only. We're out scoring people 40 to 17. That’s second in the country. So because our name is Indiana and Michigan, ninth in the CFP, yeah, here's my question, right?”

The Hoosiers await their CFP fate which will be revealed on the College Football Playoff Selection Show that starts at noon on ESPN.
