Countdown to Kickoff: 7 Days (Ben Bach)

#7

There are now seven days (1 WEEK!) remaining until the Indiana Hoosiers kick-off the 2016 season in Miami against the Florida International Golden Panthers. Join us each day for each part of our 100-day countdown to the opener! Let’s take a look at Ben Bach, who was number seven in 2015, but will wear number 18 this season. Freshman wide receiver Taysir Mack will wear number seven in 2016

Ben Bach (Redshirt Junior)

-    Height: 6’1”
-    Weight: 197 lbs.
-    Position: Defensive Back
-    Hometown: Wheaton, Illinois

Illinois native Ben Bach walked on to the Indiana Football program in 2013 and redshirted his first season on campus after leading his high school team to the 2011 state title game. During that year he won Scout Team Player of the Week once. Bach did not see any game action as a red shirt freshman in 2014, but again took home one Scout Team Player of the Week honor.

Bach finally saw the field as a redshirt sophomore in 2015 at both corner and on special teams. He played in all 13 games, culminating with a start in the Pinstripe Bowl. Bach made 12 total tackles last season including one for a loss as well as breaking up one pass.

Heading into the 2016 season with a new defensive scheme and a position (husky), which the coaches have basically said, was designed for a player like Bach, expectations for his contributions have skyrocketed. He will still be a major factor on special teams, but he has played his way into the two-deep or at the very least the rotation at the husky.

Share any memories or recollections you have of Ben Bach as a player in the comments section (or on the message boards) and be sure to come back to Hoosier Huddle each day during our countdown!
