The Hoosier Huddle Countdown rolls on as we continue our slow march towards the season opener against the FIU Golden Panthers. There are now 61 days remaining until that much-anticipated September 1 kick-off and today, we focus on redshirt freshman Nick Ramacca.
Nick Ramacca
-Height: 6’2”
-Weight: 275 pounds
-Hometown: Bohemia, N.Y. (Connetquot)
-Position: Offensive Line
Indiana University has attracted many kids from New York in recent history. However, the football program doesn’t have a long list of New York high school products donning the Cream and Crimson. In fact, prior to Nick Ramaccajoining the team during the 2015 season as a walk-on, tight end Jordan Fuchs was the only New Yorker on the squad. Regardless of where he hails from, Ramacca is now a Hoosier and the walk-on offensive linemen is eligible for action in 2016.
Nick Ramacca played for Connetquot High School in Bohemia, New York and was an offensive linemen and three-year letterwinner. In addition to football, Ramaccalettered in lacrosse and was named a three-time scholar-athlete. He joined the program during the 2015 season and redshirted as a walk-on. The 6’2”, 275-pounder is a walk-on at (arguably) one of the deepest and best units in the B1G so it’s highly unlikely he’ll see the field as a member of the offensive line rotation but there’s a chance he could work his way on to a special teams unit. The most likely scenario for 2016 is that he will be a member of the practice squad and help the Hoosiers prepare for each opponent. Ramacca intends to study finance and accounting and he has four years of eligibility remaining to make his mark on the IU football program.
