Well we are cruising right along through July and are now just about a week away from August. The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff has reached 45 days until IU takes on Southern Illinois on Sept. 5 at Memorial Stadium. Today we will take a look at number 45 Tony Thomas, a transfer from Eastern Michigan who enters his third year with the Hoosier program.

#45

Tony Thomas

  • Position: Bandit
  • Hometown: South Bend, In
  • Ht/Wt: 6-1, 245 lbs.
  • Year: RS Junior

Thomas originally committed to play for Eastern Michigan out of Riley High School where he won numerous awards including Most Valuable Lineman after recording 85 tackles and four sacks as a senior. He was also named All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State.

At EMU, Thomas did not see any game time, but was named scout team player of the week for their game against Michigan State. He was also named to the Dean's List for his academic achievements.

Thomas, who was originally recruited by Indiana, transferred to the Hoosiers in 2013 and had to sit out that season per NCAA rules. Despite not seeing any game time in 2014, Thomas did earn scout team accolades for his efforts for the Indiana State and Michigan games.

Thomas is a valuable member of the scout team and his efforts could be rewarded with playing time on several coverage units.
