Football is in the air, now that we just past the four week mark until kickoff. The various media day gatherings are over and now it is down to business in fall camp when pads should be popping any day now. Right now we are 27 days away from the Hoosiers opening game against Southern Illinois. So let's take a look at the Hoosiers' No. 27, Arthur Jones.
Arthur Jones
- Position: DB
- Height/Weight: 5-10/192
- Year: RS Sophomore
- Hometown: Washington, D.C.
Jones played running back and linebacker for head coach Gary Schnell while at St. Albans School. He was a two-time team captain and earneed all-conference honors during his senior year when he rushed for 777 yards and nine touchdowns. Jones comes from good pedigree as his grandfather, William M. Buford, was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1955.
Jones joined the Hoosier program as a walk-on prior to the 2013 season. During his redshirt season Jones won scout team player of the week for his efforts during the week of the Michigan game.
In 2014, Jones saw action in three games (Penn State, Rutgers, and Ohio State) on special teams. He won the defensive scout player of the year and was a three-time scout player of the week (Iowa, Michigan State, and Penn State). Jones also excelled off the field as he earn academic All-Big Ten honors.
Jones should be able to be in the mix for playing time in the secondary and on special teams during his sophomore season as the Hoosiers will have four new starting in the back four.
