The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff is over halfway complete! Forty-five days remain until the Hoosiers kickoff the 2020 season at Camp Randall Stadium against the Wisconsin Badgers. Today, we’ll highlight redshirt freshman tight end, Trey Walker.
Trey Walker (Redshirt Freshman)
Hometown: Winnetka, Illinois
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 252 Pounds
Position: Tight End
The football career of Trey Walker has been relatively short so far. Though the walk-on has one season under his belt with the Hoosiers, he did not actually play football in high school. Walker was a three-year letterwinner of the New Trier hockey team. He served as a team captain his junior year.
Last season for Indiana, Walker earned Offensive Scout Team Player of the Week honors against Purdue and Special Teams Scout Team Player of the Week honors against Penn State. During his redshirted first year, Walker notably added 26 pounds of muscle to his big 6’5” frame. Though Walker is likely to see similar playing time in his second season, continued strength and conditioning development on such a large frame could earn him some game action in the later years of his career.
