Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 27 Days (LaDamion Hunt)

#27

Folks, we are now inside of a month from Indiana’s season opener against possible #1 Ohio State. There are just 27 days left until kickoff, and today’s profile features a look at speedster LaDamion Hunt.

LaDamion Hunt (Freshman)

-HEIGHT: 6'0

-Weight: 185 lbs.

-Hometown: Carrollton, Georgia

-Position: DB

IU’s secondary is going to be loaded this year. Safety, corner, and husky are positions of immense strength for Coach Allen’s defense. Starters Rashard Fant and A’Shon Riggins are back, and IU also has Tyler Green, Andre Brown Jr, and a mix of other guys back as well. Hunt was a corner that many southern recruiting analysts called a “steal” for IU, as his ceiling is quite, quite high. With blazing speed and a great frame, the tools are certainly there. There is a slight tendency to overplay the ball, but this aggressiveness is exactly what Tom Allen loves in his secondary players. You can’t teach the frame and speed, but you can teach him how to read the ball better. I would imagine Hunt redshirts this year, and that is only because of the talent we have returning to the field this year. In years past Hunt may have played right away, but this year he’ll likely redshirt and be a big-time player for the Hoosiers in the coming seasons. Here’s his bio on IUHoosiers.com:

Defensive back for head coach Sean Calhoun at Carrollton High School ... three-year starter ... earned 2016 first team all-region honors ... posted 50 tackles, 41 solo, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery ... led Carrollton to an 11-2 record and a regional championship
