The summer has flown by and the freshman are heading into Bloomington to move into their dorm rooms while many of the other IU students will be back in town to celebrate Welcome Week. With the students back in town, that just means IU Football is right around the corner. 15 days in fact and today we look at number 15, wide receiver Nick Westbrook.

Nick Westbrook (Junior)

-Height: 6’3”

-Weight: 215 lbs

-Hometown: Lake Mary, Florida

-Position: Wide Receiver

It’s hard to believe that Nick Westbrook is a junior already, but it’s true as he made his debut for the Hoosiers in 2015 playing in all 13 games and making six catches for 69 yards including his first career touchdown which came in the Pinstripe Bowl.

Westbrook had a breakout season in 2016 when he assumed the number one wide receiver position after Simmie Cobbs went down for the year after just one play. The Lake Mary, FL native became one of Richard Lagow’s favorite targets and caught 54 passes for 995 yards with six touchdowns.

This season, Westbrook will have the chance to be a part of one of the best receiving corps in the nation as he teams up with Simmie Cobbs, Luke Timian, Donovan Hale and a handful of others. Westbrook should start opposite Cobbs and give the Hoosiers a 1-2 punch that most teams will have an extremely difficult time covering. Westbrook has excellent hands and top end speed. He can go across the middle or take the top off a defense. Time has flown by for Westbrook, but thankfully Hoosier fans can watch him for the next two seasons.
