Welcome back to the Hoosier Huddle annual countdown as we inch closer to the glorious beginning of the college football season. Today we focus on offensive lineman Dominic Altimari.
Name – Dominic Alitmari
Position – Offensive Line
Year/Hometown –Redshirt Junior from Cincinnati, OH (St. Xavier High School)
Height – 6’4”
Weight – 329 lbs
Dominic Altimari played his high school football at Ohio powerhouse St. Xavier where he helped win back-to-back state titles in 2014 and 2015 and the 2016 state title. He joined the Hoosiers as a walk-on during the 2017 season. From the moment he entered the program, Altimari became a valuable member of the scout team, earning scout player of the week honors within weeks of arriving on campus.
Although Altimari did not see any game action on Saturdays during his freshman or sophomore seasons, but he remained a force on the practice field. Altimari earned scout team player of the week multiple times. Now as an upperclassman, Altimari hopes to work his way into the rotation on gamedays.
Altimari has the best nick name on the Hoosiers that we know of. “Tater.”
“You gotta be a special guy when you’ve got a one-name nickname and that’s all that has to be said,” Indiana head coach Tom Allen said in 2017. “I don’t even have a one-name nickname that they know me as. I got two names. But ‘Tater’ just has one.”
