We are 22 days away from the long-awaited start of the 2020 Indiana Football season and the season is right around the corner as we enter the month of October. Today’s featured players are Jamar Johnson and Tim Baldwin (Posting later).
Johnson enters his third year with the Hoosiers with sky-high expectations as he finished the 2019 season in style as both of his interceptions came in the final two games, including his pick-six in the Taxslayer Gator Bowl.
Johnson played at the husky position in 2019 but will transition back to the safety spot in 2020. Allen said “There's a lot of versatility (in the secondary). Jamar Johnson can play all three safety positions, and that's important for us.”
With the loss of Marcelino Ball for the year, Johnson’s ability to play both husky and safety will come into play. He has a knack of getting into the backfield and creating havoc as well, as he demonstrated with 4.5 tackleds for loss in 2019.
In 23 games over the last two seasons Johnson has posted 27 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss three sacks, three interceptions, six passes defensed and a forced fumble.
