The 2020 version of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is underway! We are chugging along and today gives you a double dose of profiles with two different number 92s on this year’s roster: First up Alfred “Lance” Bryant
Name – Alfred Bryant
Position – Defensive Line
Hometown – Redshirt Junior from Fresno, Texas (Manvel High School)
Height – 6’2”
Weight – 255 pounds
Alfred Bryant was a standout defensive end at Manvel High School in the football hotbed of Texas. He was a two-time all-district selection for a team that went 55-5 during his high school career. Bryant was a three-star recruit and came to Indiana over several high-major offers. He redshirted the 2017 season and focused on putting on more weight and strength. In 2018, his redshirt freshman season, Bryant played in ten games with ten total tackles. He began to emerge as a contributor last season, playing in all thirteen games and starting in three contests. He increased his production to 25 tackles, with one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He was outstanding at Nebraska with six tackles and a forced fumble and he had four tackles against Tennessee in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.
Defensive end is pretty well stocked this year but Bryant appears to be trending in the right direction, as one would expect from a player that is entering his fourth year in the program. It is reasonable to expect a handful of starts, appearances in all contests and an increase in his production. He is definitely behind a couple of guys in the pecking order but Bryant is going to be a member of a deep defensive line group and you can never have enough good guys up front.
