Countdown to 2020 IUFB Kickoff: 9 Days (Marcelino Ball)
/Written by Nate Comp
We continue our Countdown to 2020 IUFB Kickoff with part two of today and take a look at defensive back Marcelino Ball.
Marcelino Ball (Redshirt Senior)
Hometown: Roswell, Georgia
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 220 Pounds
Position: Husky
Unfortunately, Marcelino Ball was the first casualty for the Hoosiers in 2020. On September 28, Coach Allen announced that Ball had torn his ACL and will be sidelined for the 2020 season.
“I hate that for him. He has been such a great player for us and has really matured so much as a young man. He will handle it the right way, but he will not be able to play this season. We wish him nothing but the very best as he will be having his surgery in the near future and begin the process of recovery,” said Allen via Zoom.
Ball was slotted to be a prominent figure for the Indiana defense at the starting husky position. Instead, he will be on the road to recovery.
In 2019, Ball posted 47 tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss, and a team-high six quarterback hurries. The uber-athletic Ball is still just 21-years-old despite entering his fifth year with the Hoosiers. He has amassed 202 tackles (143 solo) in his career and graduated with a liberal studies degree in May 2020.
