Countdown to 2020 IUFB Kickoff 83 Days Part One (Asher King)

We are under 12 weeks away from the start of the 2020 Indiana Hoosier football season. Today is day 83 of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff and we double up yet again. Today’s first player up is punter Asher King.

Name – Asher King

Position – Punter

Year/Hometown – Redshirt Freshman from Westfield, Indiana

Height – 6’2” 

Weight – 204lbs

Asher King joined the Indiana football program as a walk-on during fall camp last year. King redshirted the 2019 season and did not see any game action. As a high schooler, King was a punter and kicker, having made 99-of-103 extra points and 14-of-19 field goals, with a long of 48-yards. King’s versatility will be an asset to the Hoosiers’ special teams unit.

King will likely be used in case of emergency in 2020, but as veteran punter Haydon Whitehead only has one more year of eligibility left, Asher King will be vying for the starting job in the near future.
